Detailed Ratings Ease of Installation & Setup: After the product has been purchased, the user is taken to a download page. Each lesson is in a zip file and can be downloaded individually, in groups, or all at once by simply checking which ones the user would like to download. These are large files, so users with dial-up internet may have to wait for a while to download the files. A Learn Spanish Like Crazy account is good for six months, so there is plenty of time to download the lessons if you only want to do a few at a time. Features: Learn Spanish Like Crazy is an interactive audio book that, as the name indicates, will help the user learn the Spanish Language. Features are very limited on this product. There are 32 audio lessons that can be downloaded as one big zip file, or several smaller zip files. Each lesson is between 20-40 minutes. This is either a blessing or a curse depending on how well you learn by listening as opposed to reading. Very little else offered with the audio downloads. A transcript of the lessons is available in a download, but it is not advised by the creators. Lessons are designed for the listener to learn as if they were a child learning there first language. Ease of Use: The lessons are in MP3 format, so they can be listened to on the computer with any MP3 compatible audio program, burnt onto a CD for car or stereo use, or downloaded to an MP3 player for portability. Therefore, using the product is incredibly simple. The transcript is available online and broken down into the same lessons as the audio books. If you learn better by reading, this is the way to go. Content Quality: Learn Spanish Like Crazy teaches Spanish by having the user listen to everyday conversations. After hearing the conversation, a narrator explains what is being said, explains tough vocabulary, and gives advice on correct pronunciation. Next, the conversation is repeated so that the user hears all of the nuances of the language. The philosophy is that by hearing everyday Spanish, then the user will begin to pick up on words and eventually understand what is being said. A transcript is available to help, but is not recommended. The principle of the product is that you will learn Spanish like you learned English, by hearing words and phrases repeated over and over until you get a grasp of the flow and meaning of everyday conversation. Even though lessons are long, they are very repetitive. If you have a hard time learning orally, then this will be a tough teaching device. The Good: Learn Spanish Like Crazy has many things going for it. Learning by audio files alone can let the user hear correct pronunciation, conjugations, and the little nuances of speaking Spanish. The audio lessons do a good job of giving the user everyday situations for the language, not just words learned from a textbook. The Bad: If the user does not learn orally, then this will be a tough learning experience. Lack of options and interactivity are also a problem. It is encouraged that the user repeat different phrases and concepts, but it can become monotonous at times due to the repetitive nature of the audio books. The Bottom Line: Overall Learn Spanish Like Crazy is a decent product. It is not as good as some of the other products on the market, but it can be of benefit. Also, the portability of the product makes it great at taking in the car or while on the go. Although it can be a great learning tool, its lack of options leaves much to be desired for the $97.00.
