The Good: "Discovering You Can Sing" is an online e-book that covers the fundamentals of singing. There are eight "tips", as the e-book calls them, or lessons. All of the material is well written with techniques that are designed to take what you already know about singing and improving them in the correct way to stimulate a better sound. By focusing on what you know about singing and improving your technique, tone quality, and vocal range, you will slowly begin to become a better singer.

The book is designed so that you can learn to become a better singer easily, but with a little patience. You will be required to try these tips for quite a while before you will be a great singer. It is not that they are bad techniques, but that it takes practice to develop your voice into something that people will enjoy hearing. All of the tips included are easy concepts to understand and are presented with examples from every day life. By keeping the lessons easy, you will not be required memorize theory or remember a lot of small nuances. "Discovering You Can Sing" is designed to be informative, yet simple to remember.

The Bad: Although the information is good, most of it is common sense organized in an orderly fashion. There are examples in the material that almost should require audio files to accompany the lesson. For example, when a topic is being discussed that requires user interaction, the author physically writes out what the song should sound like; for example: "ahhhh". This does not give enough information to know if the sound that you are making is the exact sound the author wants you to make. By including audio or some other form of teaching, these sections could be clearer for the user.

The Bottom Line: "Discovering You Can Sing" contains some decent material, is written well, and has quite a few good tips that can improve your singing. It is written for beginners who have little previous knowledge of correct singing techniques as it is easy to read and focuses on real life situations as a training plan. For users who have taken singing lesson before or are more advanced with their technique, there isn't anything new that you will learn. If you are a beginner looking for a simple plan that can give your singing an improvement, then this is a solution. Users looking for professional tutor quality material would probably be better off looking at other products available.
