Detailed Ratings Ease of Installation & Setup: Guitartutorpro is easy enough to install for both Mac and PC users, and worked flawlessly on both systems. If you know how to double click, then you will be able to install all the materials with no trouble. You will need Adobe Reader and a program to unzip files, which is generally included on most computers.Features: Guitartutorpro has so many great features that it is hard to keep track of all of them. With e-books, accompanying audio files, and software with corresponding installation guides, it will take you some time to download all they have to offer. But, it is all worth it! The main e-books called Mastering Guitar are made up of different volumes: Volume I, Volume II, and Volume III. The first e-book gives you a general overview of the guitar, its history, and its parts. Ryan Cameron also includes some anecdotes regarding music theory. He believes that users will appreciate the guitar more if they know some historical aspects. Nice idea, perhaps. While the lessons begin at a fast pace, they slow down later on. This might be a turn off for the first-time guitar user. Each e-book also has corresponding audio files that you download from the members area and click on to hear while you are going through a lesson. The system works nicely and would not be hard for any level of computer user. The e-books are very well written and include photographs and hundreds of exercises. The course offers the user a well-balanced mix of either learning the "classical" way or via chords. The final e-book entitled The Guitarists' Guide to Reading Musical Notation is just that, it helps users learn what makes up notes, rests, bars, signatures, and other facets that might not be explained elsewhere. The software is excellent. It includes "Tuner Pro", which is a digital tuner for your guitar that you use on your computer. This will save you at least $50. Digital tuners can be expensive. It also includes "Guitar Chords Pro." This program helps guitarists form their own chord shapes. Users first select a chord family, for example, Major, then select a key. The output can be an open chord, barre chord, or movable chord. Following, the user chooses a chord shape and simply watches the visual fret board display. The color-coded dots indicate where you should put your fingers and how it should sound, a marvelous innovation. The final piece of software is "Click Track Pro", which is a nicely-designed metronome that helps you keep in time when you play, an extremely important feature. For offering a diverse amount of informative lessons through e-books, with many corresponding audio files, and a complete gamut of software, but with no video guides. Ease of Use: The ease of use of Guitartutorpro is straightforward. The members area is easily accessible after a secure payment. The area is nicely organized and laid out, meaning all the e-books, software, and audio are easy to find and download. Additionally, the site provides downloads for both Mac and PC users also a great addition. Content Quality: All the e-books and excellent bonus software make the investment, quite possibly, the best deal on the Internet. If a user can stick through the somewhat rough beginning, practice daily, and adapt according to the methods taught, anyone putting forward the effort to learn will do so rapidly. Compared to others out there selling products for a much higher price and not offering nearly as much, GuitartutorPro ranks lower than the others. The Good: The e-books are top-notch and professional. But, even the author admits in his preface that it starts off uphill. The guides include lots of exercises, and the accompanying audio files couldn't have been done better. Perhaps the team at Guitar Tutor Pro might release a beginner's manual to accompany their three-volume set of e-books. The software is complete and the members area contains options for users to choose the platform they operate from, whether Mac or PC. The Bad: The only aspect that Guitartutorpro lacks is that it doesn't offer video lessons or any learning games. They did such a great job on the software that these two features may not be too difficult to incorporate into their package. Compared to others out there selling products for a much higher price and not offering nearly as much, GuitartutorPro receives 5 stars out of 5 stars for its content quality. The Bottom Line: All in all, the Guitartutorpro team has put together a high-quality and well-rounded program. The program teaches the guitar enthusiast some of the more classical methods of learning to play, focusing more on notes, tabletures, and scales, but also teaches chords - a difficult mix that works. For those users who are able to wisely manage their time, this program might be a great choice.

Guitar Tutor Pro by Ryan Cameron is the creme de la creme of guitar software. It offers a massive amount of high-quality materials at a great price. Included is multimedia, software, and a great e-book. Includes 27 great lessons by Ryan Cameron. [DESCRIPTION FROM MANUFACTURERS WEB SITE] Do you want to play guitar in a band? Maybe you just want to entertain family and friends. Whatever your goals, I am going to teach you how to, not only play guitar, but to play it with such passion and purpose that people will never see you the same way again. You will be the envy of everyone that ever hears you play! [...] While creating the 'Mastering Guitar' course I decided to check out the competition (other online guitar courses) to see what they were up to... and I have to tell you, "I was NOT impressed!" The information they presented was very sketchy to say the least. Of course a beginner guitarist would not know this... This would only become apparent years later after realizing they wasted so much time and effort on a course which was nothing more than a brief overview and didn't really discussed how to utilize the information being taught.
