Detailed Ratings

Features State Auctions is a website devoted to helping its users find auctions within the United States. It offers a wide range of services and auction listings, but mainly focuses on vehicle and real estate auctions. The website does a great job of combining external auction listings on the Internet and offers listings that can be searched in real time from their database. Auctions can be searched with a United States zip code, and their database is kept up to date and easy to navigate.

Inside the members area, the search areas are located on the left-hand column. Here, users can choose whether they wish to find other websites that have auctions, or if they would like to search State Auctions database. If you search for a car in a certain zip code, you will be given a list of cars available in that area, according to make, model, and year, along with other factors such as mileage. While the search does not provide an e-mail or an external link, it does offer the name of the dealership or individual in charge of the auction, the address, and the phone number. All this precise information is an excellent way to get your hands on a great auction bargain.

The members area of State Auctions also offers an organized listing of external auction sites. Most of these are government sites that will tell you how to go about bidding on certain auctions, whether it is for a house, farm property, or an aircraft. Additionally, the site offers links to other important resources, such as websites that will help you determine the actual value of a home, property, or car according to various factors. Furthermore, the website is constantly being updated, and jewelry and electronics auction listings have just been added.

Note: The members area is very similar to CheapCarSeach.com. The external link descriptions are the same, as are the icons used to separate categories. Cheap Car Search has had a copyright since 2004 while StateAuctions.org was copyrighted in 2006. After analyzing the age of the domains according to Internet records, Cheap Car Search was established in 2004, while StateAuctions.org was established in 2005.
Ease of Use The members area is actually located on another domain name in order to prevent fraudulent entry into their system. Once the US $35 membership fee is paid, the URL address along with a password will be e-mailed to the user. Then, visiting the site and searching its database is quite easy. State Auctions offers a very simple-to-use method for searching for vehicles or real estate.
Content Quality The content of State Auctions is nicely managed and organized. Using icons, each external auction source can be accessed directly from the members area. If users want to do a more specific search, they simply must insert a zip code and the system will come up with listings near this location. Most listings are located in the bigger cities of most states, which is to be expected. The website also provides external tools for figuring out the book value price of automobiles and properties, which is quite useful.
The Good State Auctions offers more than other auction websites because you can actually do a live search of their database in order to contact auctioneers directly. The website lists more than 40 external auction sites for both automobile and real estate online auctions. It also does a great job of giving users information about auctions in their vicinity.
The Bad It would be great if this website would provide external website links, photographs, or e-mail addresses of those involved in selling the vehicles and properties. While it does provide an address and a phone number, they need to step into the 21st century and realize that many people communicate via e-mail.
The Bottom Line State Auctions advertises what it says it offers. One confusing matter is a clause in their Terms of Use policy inside the members area that states something about buying points in order to access their auctions. Perhaps they have now done away with this system and have not updated their Terms of Use. In any regard, when you are purchasing a membership, they say that the US $35 fee will cover access for an entire year. State Auctions is versatile and helpful for those who might just be beginning a career in auction reselling. Users should read up about the business and visit the auction links and resources that this website provides before bidding. State Auctions offers a great easy-to-use setup and is great for users who want to just sell their car and not mess with complicated web sites.
